Circle Your Foot Drill

Description: The Circle Your Foot Drill is going to train you to learn where to enter the sand and how much sand to take in green side bunkers to ensure you are making the correct splash.

Summary:
  1. To learn how to take the correct divot or "splash" in the sand make a circle the size of your foot. Simply take the butt end of your club and circle your foot tracing the outline in the sand.
  2. The circle or "island" that you make will be the perfect size for you to practice making the ideal exit and entry point. Put your ball in the middle of the circle or island. Practice entering at the back of the circle, swinging through the ball and exiting at the front of the circle.
  3. Make sure that you are making a nice shallow splash and accelerating through the ball. Thinking about moving the entire circle or island will help you to swing through to a complete finish and help prevent quitting on the shot.
  4. This drill will help train you on how much sand and how big of a splash to make in green side bunkers, ensuring you get up and out of them, and onto the green. Practice this drill until you are confident in your splash, getting through the sand properly and getting the ball out effectively.
