Question on Bunkers:

How do I consistently get out of green side bunker?
--Bob M. from Capistrano Beach, CA

Hi Bob. Thanks for writing MyGolfInstructor.com. I'm looking forward to helping you with your game.

Getting out of the bunker consistently requires you to do a few things:

- Make a consistent splash (controlling the depth and point of entry)
- Control the length of your backswing
- Control the speed of your swing
- Make a consistent set up with your foot depth, aim and clubface position

What I would like to do first is make sure that you are set up correctly to hit a good greenside bunker shot. Then I'd like to see you working on taking a consistent splash of sand.

To get yourself set up correctly and better understand the approach on a greenside bunker, check out these articles here:

Then to understand how to control your distance I would read this article:

I have a couple of drills for working on your splash that I'm going to grant you for free so you can try them out and see if they help:
