Front Foot In Drill


Description: The front foot in drill is designed to help those that spin their hips open too early in the downswing or simply over turn them through impact. It is a great drill for stabilizing the lower body and allowing the arms to catch up to the lower body and release freely through impact.

Summary:
  1. Take your normal stance and then angle your front foot in towards your rear foot about 45 degrees. With your front toe turned inward it will be very difficult to open your hips too much. You will feel a nice resistance if this part of your swing has been too loose.
  2. First start by taking a few easy practice swings. With a drill of this nature you want to go slow at first to make sure you don't injure a knee or hip.
  3. Once you get the hang of it start adding some speed and then start hitting balls. You will feel a nice resistance with your lower body which will allow your arms and club to actually speed up.
