Question on Diagnosing Problems:

I don't follow through on most shots. Any tips on how I can improve that part of my swing?
--Bryan A. from Mandeville, LA

Hi Brian. Thanks for writing MyGolfInstructor.com.

As you know a good follow through affects your power, your balance, your contact with the ball and really everything that leads up to it. The swing can work backwards where if you get someone into a good follow through, things that happen before are corrected.

I recommend to all my students that they hold the follow through position until their ball lands. With practice, eventually you will be able to do this without losing your balance. At home practice lifting one foot up and counting to 24 seconds. That should be your goal on each foot. If you can close your eyes while you do it it will help you even more.

Also, try these drills here that will help you get a good full finish onto your front foot with your weight:

Chase the Ball Drill:

Stepping Drill:

Front Foot Only Drill Stop Chunking:

Give these a try and let me know how it goes.

Thanks.
