Question on Diagnosing Problems:

I need help with full extension after impact and rotating my club head.
--Shad C. from Lenexa, KS

Hi Shad. Thanks for writing MyGolfInstructor.com. I'm looking forward to working with you.

Rotating or releasing the club head and extension go hand in hand. In other words, when you don't roll or release properly, you will usually cup or flip your wrists through impact and also chicken wing your lead arm.

It's impossible for me to say why you are doing this without seeing you, but some common causes are:

1) Lack of or poor body rotation through impact.
2) An early release or casting of the club head in the downswing.
3) A swing that comes too far inside out through impact.

The overall idea is to maintain the angles that you establish in your rear wrist and rear elbow at the top of the swing and simply move them to impact with your body rotation and allow a natural release of the clubhead through centrifugal force.

Without knowing your cause I'm simply going to send you a drill to start working on that works mainly with your arm release. Normally drills are reserved fro Pro subscribers, but I will send this one for you to try as I really feel it will help:
