Question on Diagnosing Problems:

I'm having trouble hitting the ball to the right. Not a slice, more like a push. Any tips on how to square up club face on impact?

Hi Katie. Thanks for writing I'm looking forward to helping you improve.

A push as you may know is caused by a club that travels too far inside/out through impact. This means essentially that it is coming from behind your body and swinging out to the right of your target. If your face remains square to the line you are swinging on then the ball will just fly on a straight line to the right. If the face is open the ball will start right and then curve more to the right. If your face is closed, the ball will start to the right of your target and then turn back to the left.

Many things can cause this swing path, from a hip slide, to a reverse weight shift, to poor alignment to a flat swing plane. Without seeing you it is of course difficult for me to determine your exact cause. You may think about sending in a swing for analysis. In the meantime, lets focus on the path and see if a drill may help. Here's one I really like:
