Question on Diagnosing Problems:

How do you pull through instead of starting the swing at top?
--Kitty H. from Pampa, TX

Hi Kitty. Thanks for writing MyGolfInstructor.com. I'm looking forward to helping you improve your game.

To keep the club on plane on the downswing, the swing needs to start from the ground up. Things work down in the opposite order that they did on the backswing. On your backswing the order is club, arms, shoulders, hips, front knee. On the downswing it's knee, hips, shoulders, arms and then club. If you start from the ground up your club will drop on plane and you will store your energy on the way down maximizing acceleration at impact.

To pull the club down rather than push, focus on your weight shift and your hip turn to initiate the downswing. I have many drills on the site to help you with this. If you'd like a couple just write back and I will give you a couple free samples.

In the meantime, this article will really help:
