One Foot Drill

Description: The One Foot Drill helps you maximize power on your drives by making sure you properly load weight to your back foot and strike the ball with an upward angle of attack.

Summary:
  1. To practice loading your weight back and staying back in the transition from back swing to down swing, set all your weight on your back foot and put your front foot up on the tip toe.
  2. Practice swinging from here, staying balanced on your back foot. This will help prevent a reverse weight shift and allow to use your weight to transfer into the ball and hit more powerful drives.
  3. Practice the One Foot Drill to overcome the common mistake of hanging on your front foot or leaning onto it by reverse pivoting your upper spine at the top of the swing. When the bulk of your weight (your trunk) is in front of the ball, all you have left to power the shot is your hands and arms (your weaker muscles). Getting in front of it also causes a variety of shots from pop ups to smothered shots to sprayed shots. The One Foot Drill addresses these issues by helping you properly loading your weight on your back foot.
