Swing Extension Drill

Description: The Swing Extension Drill helps to make sure you are creating a big, wide arc with your arms on your back swing to increase power with your drives.

Summary:
  1. Set up to hit your drive and take a practice swing stopping where your rear fore arm is pointed away from you and where your arm has not yet bent to a 90 degree angle. Your fore arm should point back away from you rather than pointing up to the sky.
  2. Do this 2 or 3 times pausing at the top to get the feel. Then hit a ball and keep rotating through the routine until you've got the feel locked in.
  3. If you fold your back arm too much, try to take some swings and feel like you aren't bending your back arm at all. Try hitting balls where you feel like you create no angles whatsoever with your back arm.
  4. The Swing Extension Drill helps make sure you are increasing the width of your arms and thus your arc which will help increase your club head speed and in turn increase your distance. You have all been told to keep your front arm (left arm for right-handed players) straight while you swing. What you probably have not been told however, is that it's your back arm that pulls in or collapses and causes your front arm to fold or break down.
