Question on Equipment:

1. Explain the difference in stance, swing plane, face alignment and ball contact between a short high bunker shot landing softly and a long bunker shot.( as well as creating spin ).

2. As evidenced by a slow motion video, a golf ball endures a violent compression during impact. Does long term use affect the efficiency of a golf ball ?

Thanks,

John Chason

Hi John. Thanks for writing MyGolfInstructor.com. I'm excited to get to help you with your game.

1) Check out these articles here and see if they answer all of your questions on set up, etc. If not, just write back with any questions you may have after reading:

2) Yes the golf ball does get compressed quite a bit. Cuts, cracks, dings and scrapes can cause you to lose a lot of distance and control, but I've never heard of the core of a golf ball wearing out or causing loss of distance because it had been compressed so many times. Golf balls are way more durable than they used to be. I wouldn't worry about it unless you see visible damage to the cover.

Hope that helps and let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks.
