Question on Equipment:

I just started playing. How much time should I spend on my swing before I get fitted for clubs?

Thanks for writing MyGolfInstructor.com.

Honestly it all depends on how often you want to spend money. You could go out and get fitted right away, but know that there is a very good chance the clubs won't fit you even 6 months from now as your swing will evolve and change. If the fitting isn't really that off in 6 months it's possible to just get the clubs adjusted to fit you, but there is a chance you would need a brand new set.

I tell most of my students to wait about a year unless I can see that their clubs are really a bad fit. At that point I recommend just getting them bent or adjusted to fit. At about the 3 year mark I think it is worth their while to get a premium set and order it custom fitted. Now with all of that being said, if you don't have clubs and need to go buy a set, by all means get them fit as it doesn't cost anymore than to buy them off the rack. Once again though, expect that they may not fit correctly in 6 months to a year.
