Question on Equipment:

There are so many different types of balls available on the market. What is the best ball for those of us who are seniors? Thank you.

Hi Ron. Thanks for writing MyGolfInstructor.com. I'm excited to get to help you with your game.

Balls are not age or sex specific so just because you are a senior doesn't mean that you should be playing a certain kind of ball. Some seniors are strong, have good clubhead speed and would like more control around the greens so they need a higher spin ball. Others are not as strong and distance is very important to them so they need a good distance ball.

The best way to go about this is to visit a golf superstore near your house and get on the launch monitor. This will tell you your ball speed and clubhead speed along with spin rates and such that will give you a good ball fitting.

Also, if you read on the back of the ball boxes or visit the manufacturers websites they all now have useful information telling you how the ball will fit your game. When in doubt a combination ball that gives you good distance off of the tee along with control and spin around the greens works best for most players.

I hope that helps and if you have any other questions please let me know.

Thanks.
