Question on Getting Started:

What are some ideas to help young golfers have fun and not become frustrated with the game at an early age?

Thanks for writing MyGolfInstructor.com.

Games, games, games! Make if fun for them. Bet them on the putting green for a milkshake or a candy bar. Instead of worrying about score, reward them if they two putt or hit a fairway or a green. Keep charts for them so they can see their improvement as they grow as this really helps them enjoy the game and have a sense of accomplishment. You could put it on their wall just like a growth chart.

Try to find other golfers their age or encourage their friends to play. Kids have more fun with kids than adults. The most important thing is don't stress score to them or let them see your emotions affected by how they play. Rather than asking what they shot, ask if they achieved their goals which could be simply putting better, conquering a particular hole they struggle with or hitting more fairways off the tee.

Great question. If you have any others just let me know.
