Question on Hybrids and Woods:

I cannot hit a wood solid unless I have an even lie. Anytime the ball is below or above my feet, I completely mishit the wood. Any suggestions for being able to make solid contact with my woods with uneven lies?

It is pretty difficult to hit woods solid from uneven lies. They are long, have little loft and are hard to control. If you don't absolutely need to hit the wood and are going to lay up anyway, think about switching to a hybrid or an iron.

Otherwise when the ball is below your feet widen your stance a bit more than usual. This will help lower your center of gravity. Let out on the grip. In other words, do not choke up. Focus on staying down throughout the swing. The big mistake here is to lift out of your posture on the back swing and end up topping the ball. Plan for the ball to fade to the right by aiming left of your target.

When the ball is above your feet, choke up on the club and make sure to lean into the hill a bit by leaning on the balls of your feet. A common mistake here is to fall back on your heels causing you to stand up and top the ball. The ball will hook so aim a bit more to the right.

With both a ball below your feet and a ball above your feet take a few more practice swings than usual just to make sure your club is going to bottom out at the right spot.
