Question on Irons:

I'm all over the place. I hit it fat and thin and often quit on the follow through.

Hi Dennis. Thanks for writing MyGolfInstructor.com.

Sounds like you have several problems with your ball striking at the moment. What you said about quitting on the follow through is an important point here as that can be an obvious cause of hitting fat and thin shots.

If you hang back on your back side and don't make a good weight shift and finish on your front foot you will tend to release the clubhead too early. When this happens you either hit it fat and bottom out too soon in your arc, or you hit it thin as you bottom out early and then are swinging up too much by time you get to the ball.

Let's get you started on some weight transfer drills first and see if that doesn't correct the problem. Try these drills:

1) Chase the Ball Drill
2) Front Foot Only Drill
3) Stepping Drill
