Yes Michael. A "go to" shot is usually your natural tendency. So if it's a soft fade that your body wants to naturally hit then you simply play what's natural rather than forcing it and not being able to pull it off. It's a shot that's natural and comfortable to you and that you can almost always pull off with success.
This is true for the rest of your game. For instance if you are really comfortable hitting a bump and run shot around the green with your pitching wedge, but the shot actually might call for a lofted shot with the sand wedge or even a bump and run with say a 7 iron, you would still want to stick with the PW under pressure if that's your go to shot.
