Indoor Drill - Baseboard Drill

Description: This drill will help you monitor your putting stroke for 2 major flaws. It will help detect both excessive head movement along with path errors.

Summary:
  1. Set up first without a ball with your head against a wall and the toe of your putter against the baseboard.
  2. Start by making slow practice strokes with your head against the wall. This is an odd feeling to a lot of people who first try it as they are used to some extra head motion in their stroke.
  3. As you make strokes if you are a person who likes to make a straight path simply keep the toe of the putter on the baseboard. You will feel that it is a slightly unnatural feeling to do this and you must learn to let your shoulders rock properly to accomplish a straight path.
  4. If you are a player who prefers to make an arc simply watch the putter head move slightly away from the baseboard on the takeaway and then move slightly back to center on an arc. You should see the same slight arc away from the baseboard on your follow through.
  5. Practice this indoors at home to learn to keep your body still throughout your putting stroke and to groove a consistent path.
