Indoor Drill - Sway Blocker Drill


Description: The Sway Blocker drill is a fantastic drill for eliminating a backswing lower body sway off the ball.

Summary:
  1. For this drill you will need a chair and a club. Try to use a chair that is pretty straight up and down where neither the legs nor the top of the chair flair out. Start by turning the chair backwards. Next, set up with the outside of the heel of your non-target side foot (rear foot) against the chair leg.
  2. Without a club at first, cross your arms across your chest and practice turning your shoulders a full 90 degrees. Your hips will follow your shoulder pivot, but should only rotate back approximately 42 degrees. You will notice that your non-target side hip should turn, but not hit the chair.
  3. If your hip runs into the chair you can be assured you are swaying with your lower body.
  4. Learning to stay centered and properly pivot your hips will increase your accuracy by keeping you more over the ball and in between your feet. A proper pivot will also help you develop more clubhead speed by increasing your amount of coil.
