Indoor Drill - Target Pillow Chipping Drill

Description: This is a great indoor drill that will help you learn to control the carry on your chip shots.

Summary:
  1. Learning to control the flight of your chip shots is the key to accuracy. If you can pick a good landing spot and learn to control the air time on your chips, you will be able to get the ball to land where you want and release up to the hole.
  2. For this drill you will need a good amount of space. A large family room, basement room or long hallway will all work well. You may want to line the walls with pillows to protect them if you don't trust yourself!
  3. Start by placing a bedroom pillow 5 yards away. Start chipping with your favorite club and try landing the ball on the pillow. We don't want the ball to roll up to the pillow. This is a flight drill so we are testing our carry control.
  4. After you get the hang of it simply move the pillow progressively 5 yards away and then closer again. Also, try using your various wedges and even any longer irons that you like to chip with.
  5. If you learn to control the trajectory and carry on your chip shots, the roll out will be very predictable.
