Question on Pre-Swing Fundamentals:

I have difficulty being consistent at hitting my short game shots directly at the flagstick. How can I be sure I am lining up square with my target.

Thank you
--Rick H. from Fenton, MO

Hi Rick. Thanks for writing MyGolfInstructor.com.

Th best trick for lining up any shot in golf is to pick a spot just in front if your ball by a couple inches and in line with your target. Simply aim your club at that spot. It's much easier than aiming at something far away. After you have aimed your club face simply square your body up to your club.

If your club face is aimed at your spot and you are square to the face you can be sure your are aimed correctly.

As always, make sure to always have alignment sticks on the ground when you are practicing on the range. You need to train your eyes to see what square looks like. Also, practice lining up and going through your pre-shot routine during your practice sessions. This will help it become automatic on the course.

Thanks for writing in and let me know if you have any other questions.

Give it a try and let me know how you do or if you have any other questions.

Thanks
