Question on Pre-Swing Fundamentals:

How do you maintain your spine angle through out the swing? What is a good drill?
Thank you
--Mike D. from Pomona, CA

Hi Mike.

I always say establishing good posture is one thing and maintaining it is another altogether. This article here highlights this point and gives suggestions on how to maintain your spine angle:

Posture: Establishing Good Posture is One Thing, Maintaining it is Another:

It is a challenge in private lessons to get most people into what an instructor would consider perfect posture. This is mostly due to limitations in a person's back muscles, neck and shoulders. Most people have bit of a natural curve in their upper spine and it takes work through strength training and stretching to work that curve out of the spine.

If a student is not willing to put the time in there, it can be difficult to get them in a stable posture position and without that, it's hard to maintain anything once the motion starts.

So to maintain good posture and your spine tilt, you must first start in an ideal position. I hope this article helps and let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks.
