Question on Pre-Swing Fundamentals:

I have switched between an interlocking and overlapping grip at times, depending on how terrible my game has been. I can never get comfortable using the overlapping grip. Is this normal?

Thanks for writing MyGolfInstructor.com.

Yes, it's quite common. The golf grip in general has to be one of the most awkward feels in sports. While the overlap grip is preferred, it is not for everyone. If you have short fingers or chubby hands, the overlap might feel awkward. One important thing to note here is that if your grips are too big or too small for your hands, you will always struggle with trying to get comfortable. Make sure to have them checked by a certified club fitter if you are having problems. A simple change in grip size can make a world of difference. Whether you have a 10 finger baseball grip, an interlock grip or an overlap grip, the important thing is that your hands match each other and that the club is sitting in the right part of your hands. If you have to stay with the interlock or even switch to a baseball grip, as long as the your hands are in the right position, it won't matter all that much.

I hope that helps and let me know if you have any other questions.
