Using a Metronome Drill

Description: The Using a Metronome Drill will help you groove a consistent putting tempo throughout your putting stroke for both short and long putts.

Summary:
  1. Find a metronome, you can buy one at a music store or even better yet download a free one on your smart phone. The first thing you should do is determine what tempo feel best to you. Start by setting the metronome at 84 beats per minute which is the average among the pros. Try taking the putter head away from the ball on the first beat and arriving at impact on the second. If it feels too fast or too slow adjust it until it feels comfortable.
  2. Next, start on a short putt with the the tempo you like best and practice making 10-20 putts. Gradually move back 3 feet or so each time until you reach 50 feet.
  3. Practice the Using a Metronome Drill until you get your tempo consistent which will help you will develop better control over the speed of your putts. Note that your tempo should remain the same on the long putts as it was on the short ones.
  4. Practice the Using a Metronome Drill until you get your tempo consistent which will help you will develop better control over the speed of your putts. Note that your tempo should remain the same on the long putts as it was on the short ones.
