Question on Putting:

How do I approach a severely breaking uphill or downhill 2-3 foot putt?
--Jerome P. from Los Angeles, CA

Hi Jerome. Thanks for writing MyGolfInstructor.com. I'm excited to get to help you with your game.

That is a great question and one I will definitely do a video answer for in the future. I do think however that I might have covered something similar to that.

There are two styles here. Hitting an aggressive putt or dying it in the hole. Which one often depends on your style and your personality. If you are going to hit it firm which I recommend, make sure that you play less break. The ball will have enough speed that it will cut through break. The reason I recommend this is that the green gets so chewed up around the hole. Lots of foot prints and spike marks surround the cup, especially as the day goes on. You need speed to get through this. With every putt though, if we don't make it we want it to stop about 17 inches past the hole. Keep that in mind so you will still have a tap in if you miss. Which you won't. :)
