Question on Putting:

I'm having difficulty with correct alignment and reading greens. Can you help?
--Edward I. from Delray Beach, FL

Hi Edward. Thanks for writing MyGolfInstructor.com.

As far as correct alignment goes if you are referring to body alignment for putting the best way is to simply keep everything square. Once you pick your target line make sure to keep your feet, knees, hips and shoulders square to the line throughout the stroke. If you need to, on the practice green, put a club shaft or aiming stick down at your feet and practice lining up square to get the feel and give your eyes the correct perspective.

A lot of professionals, including myself stripe their ball with a line. After lining the ball up to your target line, it is fairly simple to square up your clubface to the ball and then square your body.

This drill here is one you can do at home to not only work on your path, but also your aim and alignment.

This drill here might help you to better see the line and play enough break.

I hoped that answered your question and if you have any others please let me know. Give the drills a try for a couple weeks and see if they don't help.

Thanks
