Question on Putting:

I tend to "pull" a large percentage of my putts. I've tried every kind of putter - I've got a garage full - and none seem to help. I've tried every grip: crosshand, claw, you name it. Any tips on preventing the toe from turning over at impact? Thanks.
Dave

Hi David.

Thanks for writing. Pulling putts as I'm sure you know is a very common problem. There are many different things that can cause it from poor alignment to grip to sequence to club fitting. Without seeing your stroke it would be difficult to say for sure what could be causing you to pull putts. You may think about sending your stroke in for analysis so we can be sure.

Since you have tried with various kinds of putters it's safe to say the shape of the head, the lines on the head, the lie angle and so on are not the cause and we can rule out club fitting.

The first thing I would do is check your set up and your alignment to make sure that's not the problem. Here are a couple articles that will help with that:

Gripping the Putter:

Putting Posture and Ball Position:

Pulling is not necessarily caused by turning the club face over. A pull is a path error. Closing the clubface would be more of a hook. If you think there aren't any problems with your grip or set up, I would recommend some path training where you can monitor both the face rotation and the path.
