The Long Greenside Bunker Shot

When you ask most players what they feel is the most difficult shot in the game, the answer is commonly the long greenside bunker shot. Our video feature today will show you that this doesn't necessarily have to be the case. In fact, this shot shouldn't be played differently than any other greenside bunker shot. There is one key to remember here:

All you have to do is switch clubs. You don't need to alter your technique!

As with any bunker shot you should set up with the ball forward of the center of your stance, with your weight on your front foot. From that position, most often you can simply make an aggressive swing with constant acceleration from 10:00 to 2:00 on a clock. There is no difference on a long greenside shot. The only difference is you need to take a longer club. On these shots anything from a pitching wedge to an 8 iron works really well. Remember, as long as you take an inch or two of sand, the ball will not travel too far so stay aggressive.

Watch Maria explain and PGA Tour Veteran Jay Delsing demonstrate how to save par from 100 yards and in by learning how simple a long greenside bunker shot can be.
